Welcome to the website of Prof. Xueju "Sophie" Wang's Mechanics, Materials, and functional structures research group at the University of Connecticut. Our research interests are in the area of advanced materials, mechanics, and functional structures for applications from soft robotics and human health, involving multiple physical processes at the nano- and micrometer length scales. Our research is highly multidisciplinary and lies at the intersection of mechanics, materials, electronics and chemistry. The areas of our current interest include mechanics and materials of soft, stimuli-responsive polymers, design and manufacturing of 3D stretchable, programmable architectures and electronics, and soft materials and systems. Dr. Wang’s work has been published in high-profile journals such as Nature Communications, Advanced Materials, PNAS, and Nano Letters, and Matter, and has been reported by many press releases including ScienceDaily, Science360, Phys.org, R&D Magazine, and Nanotechnology Now.
Openings: We are looking for highly passionate and self-motivated postdocs, Ph.D. students, and undergraduate research assistants to join us at UConn. If you are interested in working in the group, please send your CV to Prof. Wang ([email protected]).
